Engine 501 and Gastonia
Engine 7 were dispatched to
a single car MVA at 2703 Beaty Road & Hedgestone Drive with entrapment
around 19:52.
Upon arrival units found a single car on its driver side with one patient
still in the driver seat. Engine 501 stabilized the vehicle, while
Engine 7 assessed the patient.
The vehicle was stabilized using cribbing and air struts. Command
decided to remove the roof to gain access to the patient. Engine 7
deployed 1 3/4" protection line. The back glass was cut and Lt. Young
entered to establish c-spine. Units on the scene were assisted by
Engine 4 and Rescue 3 from Gastonia and Brush 507 from New Hope. Engine 501
supplied a Combi Tool, SB Cutter, saw saws, and glass master to remove the
roof. Patient was removed in about 10 to 15 minutes and GEMS took over
patient care. Patient was transported to Gaston Memorial Hospital with
non-life threatening injuries. Units responded: Engine 501, Brush 507 from New Hope VFD, Engine 7,
Engine 4, Rescue 3 from Gastonia Fire, GEMS ALS Unit and Supervisor,
and Gastonia City Police.
