Overview
Fire Calls

On May 18th 2006 New Hope VFD responded to a House struck by lightning.

E500 assisted Gastonia City Fire on a reported house struck by lightning in the Beacon Hills neighberhood.  E7 was first due and reported light smoke from the roof.  As additional companies arrived and assignments were given, the situation went from light smoke to heavy smoke and fire from the B side of the structure.  Crews were able to gain access to the attic and stopped the spread of the fire.  No injuries were reported.  Units responded included: E7, L4, L3, R3, B1 from Gastonia City Fire, E500 from New Hope VFD, and one unit from GEMS.

Fire Safety
During a Severe Thunderstorm, seek shelter inside a structure not outside under trees.
