MVA 3 VehiclesOn 10 April 2008, Rescue 50 & QRV 50 were dispatched to a MVA involving three vehicles no injuries at 3707 South New Hope Road / Sherrill Road. While in route, the call was upgraded to a MVA with possible injuries. Due to the time of day, the possibility of numerous patients and the number of vehicles involved, Rescue 50 up channeled the request for Gastonia City Fire to assist. Upon arrival, Rescue 50 found three vehicles involved: Vehicle 1; minor damage to the rear. Vehicle 2; heavy damage to the front and rear. Vehicle 3; moderate to heavy damage to the front. Three patients with injuries ranging to a twenty year old female fourteen weeks pregnant, a sixty-four year old female with neck/head injuries and another female with back injuries. Personnel from New Hope Fire and Gastonia Fire Engine Seven rendered the scene and vehicles safe, initiated patient care and packaged the patients for transport. All patients were transported by GEMS and Gaston Rescue to Gaston Memorial hospital for treatment. The cause of the wreck is under investigation by the NC Highway Patrol.
